Being engaged by the Office for Youth to facilitate the Queensland Youth Forum 2011 at the end of September was fantastic.
This event bought together 38 amazing young people (16 – 25 years) from across Queensland. The diversity of where they came from, who they are, what they do and their experience came together at the forum to generate a dynamic and inspiring shared experience which was rich and energizing .
Jenny and Clare from Fieldworx supported the young people to express their opinions and views in response to a variety of issues for state government. The participants were also supported to build on their knowledge and strengths through workshops and opportunities from guest speakers.
Some of the key messages gleaned include :

On the last day, the group presented their ideas to Karen Struthers, the Minister for Community Services and Housing and Minister for Women and a number of other stakeholders. Each participant spoke with clarity and passion. The presentations were brilliant, creative and moving.
The young people talked of how it was such an amazing opportunity to come together, of the bond they have formed, and how they can remain connected across such a vast space as Queensland to find the ongoing support and inspiration from each other.
So, congratulations to all the young people at the forum for the significant impression they made on all those who had the opportunity to listen to their messages.
