In the Field

Over the past few weeks our fabulous team has been ‘out in the field’ doing some exciting work ... an evaluation for the Queensland Music Festival in the Torres Strait, community engagement around reducing binge drinking in Julia Creek, interviews in Townsville, Rockhampton and Toowoomba for a Department of Communities evaluation, a workshop in Brisbane for the Regional Youth Support Coordinators and workshops in Cairns for Council’s social and community infrastructure study.

We’ve also just had the pleasure of running two conferences – Youthipedia for LGAQ and the Queensland Youth Forum. Amazing and inspiring speakers came from  Hello Sunday Morning, the Creative Collective, Soften the Fck Up  and the crew from Thankyou Water. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed.

We are also ‘testing out’ the draft Lockyer Valley Community Plan with the community over the next few weeks. Our new Big Chat engagement process is all about taking it to the streets, so if you live in the Lockyer join us for some tasty homemade goodies around the kitchen table and share your inspirations for the future of Lockyer.

The induction program for the new Community Development Officers in Recovery was next. We developed and presented a new Resource Kit to these inspired local government based workers and also kicked off the 2 year review to measure the impact the program has on disaster affected communities.

And finally, congratulations to the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre, and their partners the Kimberley Land Council and the Kimberley Language Resource Centre, on another successful Festival (Ngumpan). The Festival brought together Kimberley Aboriginal people to do business, share cultural knowledge and celebrate through song and dance. We are proud to play a small part in your journey.
