Stakeholder Engagement projects

Department of Public Works

Fieldworx designed and managed stakeholder engagement strategies to inform the re-development and re-design of a number of Queensland Government owned buildings including the State Library of Queensland’s The Edge facility, The Queensland Museum and various facilities for Disability Services Queensland.

Our approach involved developing a range of consultation strategies to gather information, ideas and feedback from diverse stakeholder groups and compiling the findings and outcomes into formats accessible across all groups. This included formats such as web2.0 technologies (myspace, youtube etc), photographic and DVD presentations through to standard reporting modes. Our engagement strategies ranged from once-off or short term focus groups with staff and facility user groups through to the longer term engagement of advisory groups and specialist ‘think tanks’. The visions for these facilities have been presented to heads of departments, senior government staff, architects, designers, artists and user groups.

The outcome we were able to achieve for Department of Public Works was specific advice and clear design recommendations in multi formats to guide the refurbishment and fit out of public space facilities.

Arts Queensland

Fieldworx designed and managed the stakeholder engagement strategy for the development of the Children and Young People in the Arts Action Plan 2008.

Our approach was to facilitate 13 consultations with children, young people and key stakeholders across Queensland followed by an action planning workshop with Arts Queensland and other stakeholders. Each consultation required a differing approach specific to the requirements of the various stakeholder groups. Findings were documented and produced into a report on the emerging themes and trends. Throughout the consultations visual material was developed and then used by Arts Queensland in launching and promoting the Children and Young People in the Arts Action Plan.

The outcome we were able to achieve for Arts Queensland was advice and recommendations from stakeholders to inform the implementation of key policy for children and young people in the arts in Queensland.

Gold Coast City Council

Fieldworx developed a Youth Plan which included a qualitative study into the needs and aspirations of young people living on the Gold Coast.

Our approach was derived from models of research and practice such as capacity building, strengths and asset based approaches and appreciative inquiry. The inquiry framework grew from research into the roles of local government in youth affairs and good practice approaches. A total of 167 young people were engaged in a range of methodologies including interviews in public spaces, workshops in schools and community organisations and surveys distributed through the youth council.

The outcome we were able to achieve was a snapshot in time from which Council could build an ongoing approach to engaging young people in shaping the future of the Gold Coast.
