
Fieldworx was commissioned to evaluate the national Launch Pad Grants 2006-2008 using an action research methodology.
Our approach was to engage with the Foundation for Young Australians, key workers and young people in a way that honoured and respected the opinions and feedback from all concerned to build an exchange of thinking and ideas. Using diverse methodologies and web2.0 platforms, Fieldworx successfully evaluated a nation-wide initiative and provided a range of creative recommendations to ensure the Launch Pad Initiative develops to its full potential.
The outcomes we were able to achieve for the Foundation for Young Australians was robust and actionable recommendations for how to transform a funding program to ensure it became congruent with the Foundation for Young Australians' vision for youth participation and engagement in Australia.
Fieldworx researched and produced Formula Y, a resource for Queensland local councils on engaging young people in council planning and decision making.
Our approach was to research, analyse and document a diverse range of approaches of engaging young people on local government youth councils. We engaged with a range of local councils to articulate practical strategies and gather innovative ideas and resources. We undertook a comprehensive literature review on national and international participation and engagement approaches to inform the development of a practical approach to youth councils.
The outcomes we were able to achieve was the development of an engagement framework based on the IAP2 public participation spectrum together with practical information and guidelines for use by elected members and Local Government staff on engaging young people through youth council models.
Fieldworx was engaged to do qualitative research into the nature and character of unemployment and the barriers to greater participation in the Logan communities.
Our approach was to investigate issues including individual attitudes to employment, unemployment and underemployment; perceptions of unemployment and unemployment benefits; attitudes to education and training; and barriers to employment and participation in training. Fieldworx partnered key community agencies to hold focus groups with young parents, Arabic speaking people, people engaged in unemployment programs, students and job network providers.
The outcome we were able to achieve was a written report with key findings and options for the Department’s consideration.
